"In an effort to direct my own life, I decided that the best way to extend and expand my abilities was to attend GrowthX Academy because it appealed to my desire for a high tempo, real-world deep dive into tech business development."
– David Stewart, Current GrowthX Academy Sales & Business Development Student
You’ll learn to lead companies directly down the path to success. The GrowthX Academy Sales and Business Development curriculum is designed by industry experts and provides you with a 360-degree understanding of the best practices in sales and business development for technology companies. Throughout the program, you’ll be challenged to demonstrate understanding and mastery of the essential skills, behaviors, and techniques required to take on a professional sales and business development role.
You’ll learn best practices in a highly-interactive and demanding classroom environment, and work directly with companies based in Silicon Valley and beyond, gaining the skills and experience it takes to thrive in exactly the right role for you and your career.
Your foundation for success begins with business acumen. Who is the customer, what do they do, and how can your business help them? The most successful sales professionals are true partners with their customers. They fully understand business models, know how to quantify value, and can help their customers be more successful by providing a competitive advantage.
You’ll learn topics ranging from Lean Startup to Unit Economics. You’ll also master how to give presentations, calculate key business metrics, and create and build a business model canvas. Next, you’ll dive into customer life-cycle, key sales roles, and how to build and manage a sales funnel. Through a variety of projects and assignments, you’ll discover a lot you don’t know about yourself, as well.
The MXP is an invite-only program for select companies in the GrowthX portfolio. By learning directly from this program, you will be able to apply the proven methodoligies that took venture capitalists and successful founders years to create. An expert salesperson works to collectively define relevant growth milestones and achieve those results. Where business accelerators help companies build products and raise money, MXP will enable you to help companies market their product and make money.
In this domain, you’ll learn about different buyer types and buying behaviors. You’ll also apprehend the psychology of buyers and the decisions they make at each phase, along with what’s required to move customers through the sales process.
Look around and you’ll find there are myriad ways to sell. Each approach has value, but some are more relevant than others to your product and market. For example, the way you approach selling in an early stage company is surprisingly different from the sales approach used in a more mature and established company. Exposure to the most widely adopted models and methods of selling and marketing will provide context and best practices you can bring to a company in your new role to help you be better at selling.
Business development at its core is all about creating growth for your company through relationships with customers and partners. This module will help you understand how business development differs from sales, and the role it plays in technology companies. You’ll be exposed to channel and indirect sales, and explore how these models are structured and how to optimize support and your relationships.
